* Beyond all the substantive reasons I love Black Sails, I admit to finding Charles Vane incredibly hot in a "this is a terrible idea" sort of way. It's not just the cheekbones or his perfect bottom or gravelly voice, but I love that he is shaped like a Minoan bull leaper, the slim waist and hips flaring up to broad shoulders and muscular arms. His way of moving mesmerizes me, dangerous as a snake. I like watching the commentary in his expressions, the curve of his lip. Everything about him is simultaneously the rattle of a snake's tail and utterly sexy. So much of the casting and character design on this show is compelling and I love how well the acting fleshes out that design. Anne Bonney's dead, dead eyes, for example, or the delightfully attractive and charismatic unreliability of the Cook and Jack Rackham, or the solidity of Mr. Gates, or iron fist in velvet gloved ruthlessness of Max, the rightness of Randel being Randel or, or, or....I love this show.
