*I see Mitt Romney is still running the add where he's attacking President Obama for saying that businesses need roads and bridges to be successful. Yet in the add he does not list the percentage of public bridges entirely built and run by the "innovators" he claims that the president is attacking with his statement. I am fascinated to see the figures supporting Romney's claim, as I've never seen a privately built and operated bridge over a major river. The only privately funded and build bridges I've ever seen were on private land. For example, I'm pretty sure the George Washington Bridge, which I went over countless times growing up was a public endeavor, just like the bridge over the Columbia, which I cross at least twice a year, or that small bridge near my house or.... Yeah. If Romney things all public bridges ought to be built by private "Entrepreneurs and innovators," where is the proof that system works? If he doesn't believe that, why is he attacking the President for talking about the way public infrastructure helps business? I mean, yes, Mr. Romney cut up the speech so it looks like he's not talking about roads and bridges, but I have trouble believing that Mr. Romney is unaware of the context of the sound bite he's using.

* Warm Bodies seduced me. Even once I figured out the underlying bones of the story, the poetry of the prose and the entwined melancholy and hope made the book hard to put down for sleep or meds or food. The logic of the thing, exquisite and as sharp as the cut of a knife, the underlying metaphor. I am not sure how I feel about the end, but that's not surprising, really.
