Jan. 3rd, 2012 12:44 am* The government murdered 26 people in Syria.
* This is shameful:. "Molotov cocktails hurled at mosque, Hindu temple and bodega in Queens:" http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2827850/posts
* Iowa polls are showing Romney in first, Ron Paul second, with Rick "frothy residue" Santorum and Gingich in a tie for third. Remember that FOX "news" hates Ron Paul, so odds are any results showing strong support from him will be ignored in Right wing media.
* I wish they wouldn't talk about "the Santorum surge" during dinner.
* Remember what I said about Iowa caucuses being freakishly far right? Don't panic folks; this state is not predictive of the primary as a whole. It's quite likely Mitt Romney's camp is cheering Rick "frothy residue" Santorum on as there's no way he can beat anyone in a national race, which means a strong Santorum showing (*shudder*) weakens the other challengers to the right. The better Santorum does in Iowa, the harder it is for the other far right candidates to field a real challenge when it actually matters, say during super Tuesday.
* Speaking of Santorum, his campaign site is still unfortunately top on google, but frothy residue is top on bing. I'll stop google bombing him every time he shows up in the news when he stops campaigning for me not to have civil rights.
* The right wing Christian terrorists burned down a woman's health clinic in Pensacola where they had previously murdered some people. After all murdering people and burning down buildings is what Jesus would do.
* Republicans have successfully repealed Article one, section nine of the US Constitution, which used to guarantee the right of Habeus Corpus. I am surprised, as it noremally takes a constitutional Amendment to do this, but you know how much the Rwpublicans hate the constitution, and President Obama caved again. After all, the Republicans control the Supreme Court, so there is little chance of them siding with the Constitution over Republican partizan interests. This passed despite strenuous objections from the Pentagon, the military, and pretty much the whole of the US counter terrorism intelligence community. After all, it makes us less safe, so Republicans are for it, as terrorist attacks are good for Republican partizan goals. Yes, I'm that cynical. Why else would they do it?
* After a weekend of observation, it's clear the water bubbling up through the floor does not correlate with either use of the tub (or thank whatever you believe in) the toilet. It does not smell like sewage, but more like floor. I'm now suspecting that the heavy rains may have overwhelmed drainage. We do live on a hill. In any case, we've gone from me pulling up a towel so wet it makes puddles when I carry it to the tub to ring out every couple hours, to me going all night and the towel being wet, but not quite dripping wet, which is a huge improvement. I'm going to watch for another upsurge and check it with the weather.
Why haven't I reported it? I want to be absolutely sure we aren't responsible, especially on a holiday weekend, as this landlord charges if it's or fault or a false call. I don't have money to be playing plumbers just now. Hence me checking first for things like ceiling drips, water heater leak, connections to plumbing, all of which I'd have turned in instantly.
* Rent was paid today. I woke up unable to turn my head left, which hurts a whole lot, but happens, especially in winter. Tomorrow, at too fucking early in the morning, I bus commute downtown for the doctor and sundry errands. The errands may take pretty much all morning I may need to wait for things to open. Then home for a nap before Greenwick comes. Wednesday is a grueling and expensive trek North. I was hoping to take a taxi home with groceries, but it's looking like there simply won't be money for that, not if I'm getting the most important PRN, or alternately some replacement cleaning supplies as I really need to scrub the tub and that's one of the cleaners went with the car. A taxi would mean I could get litter and kibble, but I think I'm going to have to go with what fits in a back pack.
In short, I'm likely going to suck big time until Friday at least.
My desk is still a mess, but it's now a useful, organized mess, if that makes sense. I've worked out the next three unpacking phases. (I divide tasks up into smaller segments, both because of my physical limitations and so that I can work out if X needs doing before Y, that sort of thing.) I am suspecting my tables may have been stolen right off the truck while we were loading or unloading. Damnit.

* Season 3 of the Wire is by far my favorite so far. I am such a sucker for ensemble casting, complex plotting, and ambiguity. Season 3 has all those things in spades. Ad to that the nigh Shakespearan thing with Stringer Bell and Avon Barksdale, the thing so right and true with Omar and Brother Mouzone, all the long character arc stuff, and the wicked politics. Dayum. I have decided the over arching theme is being a bad friend.
