gwydion: Vlad and Niran kissing (Kiss)
* I see Robot Chicken has joined Family Guy in the anti-trans camp. They didn't even bother making a different "joke." After all, why do anything interesting or different when pissing on trans folk is there as a back up.

* Apparently SNL went after trans women over the weekend too: http://www.advocate.com/News/Daily_News/2011/01/31/SNL_Slammed_for_Transphobic_Skit/

* Cake: http://tubaqueen.deviantart.com/art/Edible-Book-Fair-2010-159178438

* Rewatching season 4 Angel, I thought, hey, that Beast sounds like Beowulf! I looked it up, and it is Vladamir Kulich! Beowulf is the beast!

* I don't leave the BPAL fold for anything anymore, but these tempt: http://www.conjureoils.com/tobydaye.htm

* Fayandstrange spots a really offensive doctor: http://feyandstrange.livejournal.com/1067760.html?mode=reply&style=mine

* I'm watching Reservoir Dogs. I haven't seen it in it's entirety since the mid 90's. This is one of those films so tied up in the sense memory of the place and time I saw it, that it's hard to untangle as an artistic entity from all the other things layered onto it by circumstance. It amazes me how well it holds up, despite the passage of time. The sequence with White and Orange in the car and the warehouse is still as shocking and fresh as it was when in was new. Elsewhere some of the dialog is a touch stilted, but it still works as a piece of art.

* I'm aware of the continuing race controversy surrounding the Ohio Governor. I haven't gotten into it until now, as one could put multiple constructions on his behavior up until now. It bore watching, there were red flags, but i didn't feel comfortable wading in until now. When he's responding to an African american politician asking him if he needs help finding qualified people of colour for his cabinet, as he only had appointed white people, his response was to say he coulddn't have any as he was against quotas (implying there are no qualified POC and POc could only achieve high office through quotas.) He then said "we don't need your people." Charming. Later, he claimed he meant democrats, but given trhe context and her willingness to help him find qualified republicans... Yeah. Add that to previous questionable remarks and decisions he's mad in the less than a month he's been in office, it's pretty clear the man has a problem with brown people. Um, eeew.

* Meanwhile, the death threats continue to pour in along with creepy racist calls and faxes against the California Representative who asked Rush Limbaugh to apologist for the extremely racist impression of the Chinese. Limbaugh's not apologizing. Of course. If anyone thought he would, I've got a bridge in San Fransisco to sell them. Instead, he's going after the representative by name. There is talk of a Limbaugh boycott, but I'm not holding my breath for that working either. I can only hope State Sen. Leland Yee stays safe.

* I'm still trying to figure out how they are going to make a porno out of Reservoir Dogs. Yes, I know it's a parody version, but I can't help but think you'd have to be a pretty sick puppy to look at that movie and think, "I bet that'd make a cool porno...."

* My favorite sequence is still the Mr. Orange back story segment. I still remember Abe and I watching that with fascinated delight. I know, I know, for most people it's all about the ear scene. For us, the acting in that sequence and the commentary about acting, and all the things going on with that character on and under the surface, that's what made the movie for us.

* I ended up drugging Hector two nights in a row as he was escalating again and I was getting really close to locking him in his room to prevent violence. I think the issue is that when his stomache hurts, he thinks I can fix it instantly, so he gets angry at me for not solving it right now. Instead I insist on feeding him laxative, and who wants to eat cat laxative when they have a tummy ache from hair balls. Sigh. LM's also still bullying him rather, which doesn't help, even though it's not as bad as it was last week. I'm so tired of all this cat drama. This is the third night in a row of nearly non-stop howling.

They also seem to be having some sort of contest to see who can make the worst smell.

Also, the new fish brought ick with them. Sigh. I'm nearly out of aquarisol.

* Alert reader Lurkitty spotted anti trans stuff in How I Met Your Mother this week. I guess is was piss on people less powerful than you week or something and no one told me.

* It's looking like the pro-government forces are organizing in Egypt. There have been coordinated attacks on protesters by counter protesters, likely in an attempt to make the protesters look like thugs. The Egyptian army has sent out warnings of fake army guys in the streets.

* John Bolton is arguing that the unrest in Egypt means it's time to bomb Iran. Presumably because randomly starting wars for no real reason is a good idea every day. *face palm*

* Lurkitty on the latest GOP attempt to punish women for being raped: http://lurkitty.livejournal.com/474892.html?style=mine

* Micheal Steele went on the Daily Show. All it needs is a trip to Colbert and he'll have a full set. O.o They had him on with the Micheal Steele Sesame Street Muppet. O.o O.o
