Dec. 19th, 2010 02:10 am* Squirrel and I were discussing the trailers before Tron. I admitted I want to see the Hornet, as even though I hate Seth Rogan, they have correctly Identified hornet as Cato's sidekick and I want to see that play out. We both thought the Lantern movie was unappealing. I'm not the target audience for superhero movies and being outside the fandom, I only go to see ones that look interesting instead of going out of fan loyalty. I said I had no interest in a whiny, frat boy Lantern. I pointed out that if they'd done a Will Smith one instead, I'd likely have gone. Squirrel admitted he could really get behind a Will Smith Lantern, and he actually knew the names and characters of various Laternws over the years. I'm betting we aren't the only ones who'd go with more interesting casting/characterization. No way am I shelling out scarce cash for something so boring and bland looking.
* DADT repeal passed. It's a good start. Now to get to work on the rest.
* RM's take on DADT repeal: http://rm.livejournal.com/1982200.html?style=mine
"Fifth, homophobia and misogyny run hand in hand. Rape, homophobia and misogyny run hand-in-hand. We need to look at how we treat women and theoretically feminine characteristics, both in and outside of the military, and get over our shit as a nation."
* So Tron. ( The Review, some spoilers: ) In summary, Squirrel and I had a good time anyway, but the thing did rather fall apart towards the end. It's as pretty as anyone could wish, and there was fun to be had, but it's flawed as hell, and we'd rather have seen the movie that came after this one in the narrative than this actual movie.
I do hope they put out a 2-D version soon for folks who can't do three d, but at least for this film, the 3-d made design sense rather than feeling tacked on.
* I was all excited for my tofurkey roast feast. I know, most carnivores thing tofurkey is nasty, but I like it, okay? Traditionally, the roast sweet also comes with gravy, jerky, and these incredibly tastey dumplings I'm in love with. I opened my box and... no dumplings. They'd thrown in a vegan chocolate cake instead. Arrrgh! I can make chocolate cake if I wanted it, but I can't make those dumplings! I didn't want cake; I wanted dumplings, damnit. I fear the dumplings may be discontinued. *shakes fist at the Amy's company*
