* I listen to a hard rock station out of Vancouver. They do a mix of new stuff and old metal. right now they are playing "Carry me back to Cali" and "Capable" over and over, the way stations are want to do. Every now and then though, a classic Metallica song will come on. When they were new, they were brash and angry, and completely different from anything else. Now, coming out of the sea of chatter and overplayed songs, I'll be struck by the sheer beauty of some of those riffs. playing a whole album at once, I tend to ju8st sink into the music, but out of of the blue like that on the car radio, it's oddly easier to focus on the playing, even with my crap car speakers.
* The Clutch:
* This is stuck in my head, so I'm infecting y'all:
I was too young for the Runaways, but this song came out, just when I started getting interested in music, and I thought Joan Jett was the coolest thing ever for a little while. I still think she's pretty damned cool.
Also this, because I couldn't find the Joan Jett cover and I love me some Iggy too:
