* What did I do today? Made huge progress on the two cats hanging out on top of me project. Tavy still doesn't like sharing me when I'm lying down, but is getting more tolerant of her climbing on for loves and a nap. She is still skittish and apt to abandon her spot if anything changes even a little or isn't exactly right, but the last few days she's gotten bolder and more willing to circle back for cuddling.

I also read a third author writing in the" Victorian Gentlemen who prefer other gentleman, plus one extremely competent woman in a man's world best friend supernatural romance mystery novel" genre. I love that this super specific thing is apparently an actual sub genre in which multiple authors write. This one is New England instead of London and Lovecraftian. How could I not love a comparative philologist as the protagonist? It was a bit frustrating as many of the relationship problems could be easily solved if the boys learned to communicate, but luckily the action hero archeologist best friend kept metaphorically thunking their heads together until they started being sensible. It was Jordan L. Hawk's Widdershins, if anyone is curious. It has rather a lot of porn towards the end, but the story was solid and I did particularly like the extremely competent archaeologist action hero best friend.

The cats and I also watched a bunch of Westworld, but only about half of the new episode, so don't tell me anything about it.

Monday is going to be a short sleep day and involves me driving Squirrel to... I think it was the dentist, plus forage and the rest of the usual Monday.

I have live in this Town longer than I have live anywhere else now, but somehow, I can never really wrap my head around sunset starting after 9PM as it did today and it still being reasonably light at 9:40PM.

* I brewed what is pretty clearly the second to last picture of huckleberry sweet tea. I say second to lass in the absolute sense. I bought a pound of it the year my inheritance came through, in a transaction in parking lot alarmingly like a drug deal. I loved this brand of tea, you see. It was local, and they sold little bags of it in the farmer's market. The nice little old lady who made it was a one woman company and that was to be her last selling season before retiring. This was the perfect sweet tea, richly flavored, no odd aftertaste, absolutely perfect drunk cool cup after cup. No more exists, and when it has all been drunk, likely sometime in late July, early August, it will become one more Impossible Food to be remembered and longed for. It is like me really: to savor a thing while it lasts, but to barrel toward inevitable ending rather than let it sit in a cupboard untasted until all the savour is lost; to love always in my way, but to not hang on to the physical past the point of sensible endings. I see no point of never sitting in "the good chair," never wearing "the Good outfit," or drinking from "the good China." Something not experienced and savoured is wasted, and so I will drink these last two pitchers this Summer and love every taste to remember in the time when it is no more.
