This is fucking devastating. I am very glad no humans were killed and they got most of the warm blooded creatures out, but I am mourning the fish store and it's inhabitants. It was huge. It was like a small scale aquarium. It was fun to wander it's labyrinth and just look at the tanks. They got the animals out from the shop next door, but you cant really move those giant tanks. Fish store was owned by two elderly gentleman for whom it was their life's work. They employed a small army of wonderful counter culture young people. They had a pleco the size of my forearm.
Fuck! It’s horrifying and what was lost was irreplaceable and I can’t stop thinking of all those fish and the people who just lost pretty much everything.
* So here's the thing. I only found out about the fire because I saw the burnt out buildings and I pretty much spent all evening crying off and on about that and another personal thing that happened after. Somewhere in all this I managed to strain or sprain my left wrist and I only noticed the pain and swelling later when I tried to use it for typing and it had stiffened, so I’m working one handed. The only reason there is a news round up for Monday is because I was too tired and in pain to get up and take a bath/got to bed without a few hours of prep/calming down.
Obviously, I did not finish the news. I will make an attempt tomorrow. If my body and the bank cooperate, I will go pay the licensing people for the car tabs. If not, it becomes Wednesday's problem.
