Diana Wynne Jones died. Damn. Her writing was so much better than Rowling's and really spoke to me. I reread Fire and Hemlock every few years still. Nowhere, now here, where now? She'll be missed.
You know, I haven't read much of her stuff, and the copy of Fire And Hemlock I started once disintegrated mid-read (and was handed off to Mia Nutick to make jewelry from,) so I've never completed one of her books. That said... "Better than Rowling" really doesn't do even my own small sample justice. That's only slightly above "Better than Stephanie Meyer"... She was good, and my taste left me wanting more rather than wishing I'd spent my time doing something else.
