* My response to Philadelphians chopping off the hitchhiking robot's head? Yep! Sounds like Philly. Look, I grew up there. It was a dystopian hellscape with dangerous gangs of Police thugs roving around looking for innocent citizens of various minorities to group kick. I am told it's improved, but cops still routinely cover up police murders rather than investigate them (google Nizah Morris. Go on, I'll wait), so... Yeah. There first gay cop shot himself in the head and the neighborhoods are heavily segregated. Chicago level political and police corruption. Varsity level graft. The Twelve Monkeys version of '90's Philly? Pretty much accurate except for the low racial diversity in the film: violence, extreme wealth inequality, and social segregation? Neighborhoods that look like a war happened there contrasted with ridiculously beautiful areas for the tourists and the wealthy? That's my Philly. City of Brotherly Love, my ass. More like city of inchoate anger and despair amoung the mostly disenfranchised. (My fondness for the current mayor not withstanding). So yeah, some angry fuck chopping off the head of some loveable science/technology/social experiment sounds about right.

* Marine Rob (my second oldest non-continuous friend. To count as a non-continous friend, I need to have heard from you in the last two years, but have gaps of at least two years in the friendship with no upward limit on the gap. Twenty years? No problem. Continuous friends have no gaps in the two year range, usually less. Ex-lovers qualify, though they also have a seperate category, obviously. Anyway....) two minutes before my alarm. (Unironically brilliant timing!) He is in town. I agreed to meet him for dinner. It was foraging day, and an ebay mailing day, and a restock the kitchen day. I was literally a bag and a half from finishing unloading when he called for my address, and a literal two minutes from me finishing up dishes when he arrived. seriously, beautiful timing. We had delicious cajun food and I gave him my barely touched copy of Kingmaker as it's out of print and I've no one to play it with. Better someone have the joy of it and Winters are long in small village Alaska. All I wanted was an air conditioner nap in the low allergen environment of my room. Hector spent my whole attempted nap screaming in my ear, so no dice. He was delightful for Rob though, which was sweet.

* Stuff That Totally Made Sense at the Time, but is Weird in Retrospect: Remember that time Bruce Springsteen sang a song about wet dreams?

The 80's Were Weird.

* The wild illogic around Littlefinger in the most recent season of GoT still makes me grumpy. As with the female characters instead of having goals, motives, reasons they do things they just make bad decisions that contradict all those things because the plot says so.
