Nov. 5th, 2010 12:27 am* I actually saw the emergency Alert system used for an alert today for the first time I've ever seen it. It was an Amber Alert for a little girl. I hope it turns out okay. They had a license plate on the abductors, which should help.
* They hadn't moved Mom to the rehab center yet as of this morning. She's still very weak, but is entirely herself. It turns out it's not just mom and granddad who had that horrible reaction to sedation, but Aunt Ruth as well. I'm clearly pretty lucky not to have that response as I've had like five surgeries since 2003. Any way, she's working on accepting that she'll never be able to live independently again. Damn.
For those of you who pray, Mother does appreciate your prayers.

* The library actually bought Angel DvDs. I'm going to actually get to see season 2. WhooHoo! (I was in there ordering season 8.)
* Pat Murray is officially still my senator. The congressional race in my district is still too close to call. Ballot measure wise, the tax measures that will pretty much kill funding for schools and infrastructure passed. Damn. Looks like we're keeping our state liquor stores. This is good as we'll be needing the revenue.
* Re pat downs: I got my usual "random" extra security screening at Philadelphia. (My suspicion is that Philly TSA think I'm a dealer what with my medication collection. I mean, it's either that or an extremely gimpy terrorist.) I was amused to see them having to check my Id to decide which sex my screener would be. The screener was extremely professional and i did not get anything personal stroked. We'll see if that changes next time I fly, under the new rules.
* They start filming the3 Depp/Burton Dark shadows in April. My heart is already going pitter pat. I know most of you couldn't give a fiddler's fart, but it's a big deal to me.
